8am Smart Spend

8am Smart Spend is a credit card and spend management platform designed specifically for small to medium-sized law firms. Customers can issue both physical and virtual credit cards to any staff within the firm and automate linking transactions directly to client invoices. The platform addresses the critical challenge that law firms face in tracking, managing, and optimizing their operational spending across multiple practice areas, reimburseable client expenses, and budget allocations.

I was directly responsible for leading this 0 to 1 embedded fintech solution including strategy, defining the product, building alongside the card issuing partner, coordinating GTM efforts, iterating on early market signals towards product market fit, and scaling across 2 product integrations.

• Led customer discovery to identify pain points in how law firms manage and track spending across practices and departments
• Defined jobs to be done, phased product scope in partnership with card issuing vendor, GTM efforts including recruiting private Beta access for customers
• Collaborated with the engineering team to design a flexible architecture that supports integration across multiple 8am invoicing solutions
• Continuously iterated on early signals and emerging market landscape to realize rapid month over month spend volume growth

Launched 8am Smart Spend to help law firms to track, reconcile, and invoice every reimburseable client expense in real-time that has resulted in month over month spend volume growth and 2X quarter over quarter since Sep 2025.
