Alert Labs initially targeted the consumer market for their IoT solutions. Shortly before I joined they had pivoted to a B2B model for commercial property management. The challenge was to update registration of all devices to a new, more professional model that was optimized for blue collar employees with limited technology literacy.
Following the redesign, we quickly learned from customer discovery that we also needed a high volume solution for deploying hundreds of sensors in a single building within a day that has delivered increased deal sizes and rapid growth in ideal customer profile companies.
What I did
- Audited the existing workflows and observed customers remotely installing devices for registration to understand key inputs and customer challenges
- Facilitated sessions with engineering to better understanding technical limitations and desired data collection methods to design and scope a new optimized architecture and workflow
- Collaborated with Graphic Design to align brand and professional identity to the new flows and page style guide including iconography, device renders, illustrations, color, typography, and consistent spacing
- Observed customers in context of a large deployment to better understand opportunities to deliver new value that informed a new offering and revenue stream that has contributed to increased deal sizes and ongoing high growth rate in desired markets.
